Sunday, August 11th, will be our final Bondhu brunch. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make Sunday mornings such a joyful part of the Berkshires dining scene.
We are making this bittersweet change for 2 reasons:
When we took over this property in early 2022, we knew the kitchen would have a limited life span. One of the many reasons we have kept our service hours limited was to minimize the wear and tear on an already well-loved kitchen, including its appliances, tools, and overall infrastructure. We took this on knowing we would be experimenting with different service models and events. As many of you know, Bondhu has been a big career and life pivot that we wanted to try out for ourselves.
Two years on, a number of the appliances have given out or are coming close. While a limited schedule is still doable and exciting for us, the kitchen is in need of major upgrades and repairs to withstand regular use. Rather than taking on these costs right away, we are stepping back to explore what’s best for us, professionally and personally. On that note…
We opened our doors less than 6 months after moving into the building, and haven’t stopped since. Going non-stop since then has been great for business, but has also left little time and room to experience life in the Berkshires or work on the many things important to us as individuals. The infrastructure challenges described above provide a natural moment to regroup and determine how to best use our time, physical space, and resources.
This is not goodbye! We will continue to offer the Community Cafe service on Thursdays, and we are planning menus for our scheduled dinner parties and private events. We will still review and consider requests for private events and cooking classes, on and off-site.
We hope to see you this Sunday for our final brunch and at one of our many upcoming public events!
